My Cruelty-Free Makeup Routine

When it comes to beauty, I like to research products and make sure that what I am putting on my skin every day isn’t doing massive amounts of harm to me or animals.  I’ve always been very conscious about what I put on my face and would reccomend these to every one! What you put in your body as well as on your body …or face … are equally important.

I really try to avoid harsh chemicals or ingredients that I know aren’t good for me, while getting the results I want.  For example, I try to avoid parabens and talc which have been studied for a long time about whether or not they are linked to cancer – too sketchy for me to risk. I also stopped using Mario Badescu facial sprays to set my makeup because they contain Propylene Glycol – an ingredient found in anti-freeze!

Alright, now I’m sure there are many other questionable chemicals in products out there.  But, I have found a comnbination of products that agrees with my temperamental skin while helping me look put together every day.  Here’s my tried and true cruelty-free routine:

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Waterproof Concealer -This product helps cover my redness and blemishes easily and has a matte finish!                                                           High coverage, hypoallergenic, waterproof, and cruelty-free.

Clinique Chubby Stick in curvy contour – After concealer, I like to bronze up some areas and add color to my face.  This adds natural warmth and is so easy to blend in, looking so natural.                                                                                                                     Cruelty-free and oil-free.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in exposed– I am OBSESSED. I am such a blush girl because I am so pale, especially in the winter.  It is so natural and not too pink, so I like to put in on my eyes as a shadow sometimes.  I have used this for years, so I know it’s long lasting, and the product lasts forever – well worth the price.                                              No parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, and gluten.

Bare Minerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum – This is so natural and has surprisingly buildable coverage.  I have recently turned away from higher end liquid foundations because they are simply not that great for your skin.  In combination with the Tarte concealer, I get all the coverage I need and my face doesn’t feel heavy or dirty.    Cruelty-free, ree of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, preservatives, talc, oil, waxes, GMOs, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances & dyes, and triclosan.

Glossier Boy Brow – This fills in, thickens, and tints my brows to create a natural, brushed-up look super easily.  It doesn’t feel smudgy or crunchy, with an added bonus that it conditions your brows as you use it.                                                                         Alcohol free, fragrance free, paraben free, cruelty free, appropriate for all skin types, hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist tested, dermatologist tested

Clinique Eye Shadow Trio – I have used a lot of clinique’s eye shadows for natural eye look and love all the colors. But, I use the brown shade in mine to fill in my brows under/on top of the boy brow for when I want them to stand out more. There’s a wide range of clinique shadows to choose from if you want to take advantage of a two-in-one product.                                                                                                                                       Cruelty-Free & Allergy tested

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense – Ok, maybe all clinique eye makeup products are amazing! This liner is super easy to apply and doesn’t. smudge. at. all. What more could a girl ask for? It’s so easy to get close to your lash line, thicken, or wing it out.                        Cruelty-free, allergy tested, 100% fragrance free, Ophthalmologist tested, Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

Clinique High Impact Mascara – Finally, I like to finish off with a mascara that doesn’t smear or smudge and is easily removed when I wash my face.  This does just that, while thickening and fanning out my lashes.                                                                                 Cruelty-free, allergy tested, 100% fragrance free, Ophthalmologist tested, Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
