I truly believe that everyone on this earth should begin a self care routine. I’ve definitely had ups and downs, fallen off the bandwagon, and become extremely stressed out. But, I always come back to a solid routine. It’s important to take time for yourself and invest in a routine to take care of yourself, both inside and out. Everyone has to start somewhere, despite a busy schedule, to invest in themselves every day. Below I’ve listed some things that can help you develop your own self care routine.
Begin practicing mindfulness & self awareness
Assess your needs, whether it be eating, sleeping, staying hydrated – and take action. Setting a phone reminder or alarm to start going to bed earlier, carrying around a water bottle, and packing a homemade lunch and snacks during the day ease my stress and anxiety during the day.
Carve out a few minutes a day to yourself
As a start, do something you enjoy. This way you can slowly increase the amount of time you spend doing something you like doing. I find that having an activity or set time to look forward to every day helps break up the monotony of the schedule that comes with daily work and school.
Make sure you move every day
In the winter months, this is a tough one. But, bundling up and getting outside for a little while usually helps me feel more relaxed. I love to dress super warm and walk by the beach just to get some fresh air for a little while. If getting outside isn’t an option, exercising or stretching indoors for a while still gets those endorphins moving.
Invest in your skin care
Investing in your skincare routine could mean spending a few extra minutes every day to moisturize or start dry brushing, or make yourself feel relaxed before bed. I love to change up my products every once in a while and make sure that the products I use are good for me and my body. Vegan and cruelty-free products benefit you and the environment!
I hope you found some of these tips helpful and are able to invest in yourself this week!
